Rylee Bordwick ’25

Senior Rylee Bordwick is taking advantage of all the academic and co-curricular opportunities that Lafayette has to offer. Support from the Lafayette College Fund can enhance many of the programs and initiatives that positively impact students at Lafayette.
Exceptional Academics
As a dual major in environmental studies and anthropology & sociology, with a minor in geology, Rylee is learning from Lafayette’s unique interdisciplinary opportunities. Fully supported by the College, she delves into the intersection of these fields, exploring their connections in impactful ways. A dean’s list scholar, Rylee also gives back by serving as a teaching assistant in the Department of Geology and Environmental Geosciences, helping peers grasp core concepts and succeed in both classroom and lab environments. Support for the Lafayette College Fund can enrich the entire academic experience. It allows students to put their heart into their classes, projects, and activities, preparing them for successful careers upon graduation.
Outstanding Research Opportunities
As an EXCEL Research Scholar, Rylee conducted research on food sovereignty, food deserts, and urban agriculture in Easton. In addition, she encouraged community engagement with local food systems by painting a mural at the Easton Urban Farm in partnership with the CaPA Scholars Program. The Lafayette College Fund can enhance research opportunities by providing funding for lab equipment, supporting opportunities for students to travel and present their research, and more.
Remarkable Student Experiences
As a member of the Lafayette College Technology Clinic, Rylee was among an interdisciplinary group of students charged with finding innovative solutions for a local fish hatchery to become an energy-sustainable operation. She and her team created and installed a waterwheel to capture hydroelectric energy, which was able to generate enough to charge a 12-volt battery! Support from the Lafayette College Fund can enhance co-curricular experiences for students so they can put their classroom knowledge to work on real-world projects.
Community Impact
Rylee worked as a farmhand on the Easton Urban Farm, growing and harvesting organic produce to distribute to Easton community members identified as having barriers to accessing healthy food options. She distributed produce weekly at the Easton Area Community Center, Harlan House, and the Easton Area Neighborhood Center Food Pantry. The Lafayette College Fund can support students so they can work outside the classroom on projects that strengthen the community.
